The art of the Iced Latte – how do you make it perfectly at home?

Heerlijke Iced Latte

When the temperatures start to climb, we all go looking for a refreshing drink that gives us a bit of energy. For coffee lovers there's no better choice than an Iced Latte: smooth, creamy and wonderfully cooling. But how do you make one at home that's just as good as the one from your favourite coffee bar?

In this blog you'll discover step by step how to prepare the perfect Iced Latte – inspired by the guidelines of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and a few tips from us, of course :).

What is an Iced Latte?

An Iced Latte consists of three simple ingredients:

  • Espresso: the base, with a full, intense coffee flavour.
  • Milk: adds creaminess and balance.
  • Ice cubes: make it refreshing and thirst-quenching.

The secret to a good Iced Latte lies in the quality of the coffee and getting the ratios right.

Recipe: Iced Latte in 3 steps

Ingredients

  • 1 double espresso (we currently have the lovely summer espresso from Solberg&Hansen)
  • 200 ml cold milk (whole, semi-skimmed or plant-based, whatever you prefer)
  • A handful of ice cubes

Method

  1. Brew the espresso. Use your favourite espresso. For an Iced Latte we'd recommend a fruity filter coffee or a round, balanced espresso.
  2. Fill the glass. Put the ice cubes in a large glass and pour the espresso over them.
  3. Add the milk. Slowly pour the cold milk into the glass. Give it a quick stir and your Iced Latte is ready.

Variations to try

  • Vanilla Iced Latte: add a dash of vanilla syrup.
  • Caramel twist: finish with caramel sauce for a sweet touch.
  • Vegan version: use oat milk or almond milk – deliciously creamy!
